Arrest History in Fulton County
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office patrols unincorporated areas across about 880 square miles and operates dispatch, investigations, corrections, and courthouse security. Canton, Farmington, and Lewistown police create their own city incident and arrest reports. Illinois State Police and other authorized agencies can also make arrests. Fulton Arrest FOIA Five-Day Clock
The Sheriff's named FOIA officer is Shelby Eyer. A request must be in writing, but the county cannot force a requester to use a preferred form. For a noncommercial request, the officer generally has five business days to respond. A permitted extension can add five business days. Private identifiers, juvenile material, victim information, active-investigation facts, and safety-sensitive content may be removed or withheld. A released booking photo is still not proof of guilt and should not be treated as a public gallery.
Fulton Arrest Reports Versus Bookings
The arresting agency holds the narrative report. The Fulton County Jail holds the booking and custody material. The Circuit Clerk holds a later case only if charges are filed. For a Canton arrest, that can mean contacting Canton Police for the incident report, Fulton County Sheriff for jail intake, and the Circuit Clerk for the court outcome. Farmington and Lewistown follow the same three-custodian logic, though Farmington's location across Fulton and Peoria Counties makes the place of occurrence especially important.
A report request should name the record type. Asking only for an “arrest record” can leave the custodian unsure whether the request seeks an incident narrative, booking sheet, photograph, or court disposition. Precise wording speeds the Fulton County search and reduces unrelated redaction work.
Recent Arrests and Booking Logs
The Fulton County Sheriff does not publish an official browser-based arrest blotter, booking log, or inmate roster. No public field list or update schedule exists to describe. Fulton Booking Photo Redactions
The Sheriff's FOIA page places booking photographs in an “Immediate Release” category, but release still operates within Illinois law. Personal data, juvenile information, active-investigation content, protected victim details, and information that creates a safety risk may be withheld or redacted. “Immediate release” names a record category. It does not promise that every image is unedited, online, or available without review.

The statute supports a records request, but other exemptions and confidentiality rules still govern what the Sheriff can produce.
CrashDocs Is Not Arrest History
The Fulton County Sheriff points traffic-crash requesters to CrashDocs, where an accident report costs $5. That service is for crash reports. It is not a Fulton County criminal-history search, jail roster, booking portal, or source for a court disposition. Use Sheriff FOIA for an arrest report or booking document and the Circuit Clerk for filed charges.

Keeping those channels distinct prevents a paid crash search from being mistaken for an arrest-record request.
Arrests vs Convictions
An arrest documents that an agency took a person into custody or initiated an arrest event. A conviction follows a guilty plea or finding in court. Fulton County arrest and booking files can exist even when prosecutors file no charge, a judge dismisses the matter, or a trial ends in acquittal. The final Fulton County criminal case record is the better source for the outcome.

A dismissed arrest may remain visible until eligible expungement or sealing is completed and each agency updates its records. Fulton County criminal court case records provide the filed outcome when an arrest led to prosecution.
